A statement of shared values--Every Toastmasters club shares the same mission, clearly defined in the following mission statement: The mission of a Toastmasters club is to provide a mutually supportive and positive learning environment in which every member has the opportunity to develop communication and leadership skills, which in turn foster self-confidence and personal growth. Through this mission, each Toastmaster gains a clear understanding of the club's purpose, and the organization as a whole benefits from a shared set of values and goals. I am a member of Bon Air Toastmasters, West Creek Toastmasters, and Galloping Gourmet Toastmasters. I also serve as the Toastmasters District 66 Webmaster.

When I attended my first Toastmasters meeting back in about March of 2006, I had no idea what was to come... My first meeting was to go to Chesterfield Toastmasters, where I walked in to discover--much to my surprise-- that I already knew a couple of the people in the room. They were meeting in a small meeting room in the back of a Shoney's Restaurant--and I walked out of that first meeting with both a "First Timer" ribbon and also a "Best Table Topics" ribbon as well! I was HOOKED. |
